The contract, valued around 190 million euro, was signed today in Paris （France） by Philippe Cochet, President of Alstom Hydro, and Pham Le Thanh, President and CEO of EVN, in the presence of Nguyen Tan Dung, Prime Minister of Vietnam, François Fillon, Prime Minister of France, Martin Bouygues, Chairman and CEO of Bouygues, and Patrick Kron, Chairman and CEO of Alstom. For the Son La project, located on the Da River, in Son La province about 340 kms north-west of Hanoi, Alstom Hydro’s scope of supply includes design, engineering, manufacturing and delivery of six 400 MW Francis turbines and generators, and BOP （balance of plant）, as well as training and supervision of installation, testing and commissioning. The first unit is scheduled for commissioning in 2010 and the last in 2012. Once completed, the Son La hydro power plant is expected to generate about 10 billion kWh per year and will meet a significant part of the country’s energy needs. Alstom Hydro has already provided the equipment for five hydro power plants in Vietnam, located from north to south of the country.
