The ZigBee Developers’ Conference was brought to Europe for the first time in 2007 in order to increase efforts to engage system developers in Europe. This first European ZigBee Developers’ Conference, was a great success with the following highlights: European conference over 3 days in English language 248 participants from 20 countries attended 11 companies participated as exhibitors and sponsors 30 technical papers were presented covering all aspects of ZigBee wireless sensor networks 5 companies prepared well attended workshops giving real hands-on design experience This year, the ZigBee Alliance will hold its 2nd European ZigBee Developers‘ Conference （EuZDC） June, 24th to 25th, 2008 in Munich （Germany）. It is organized and run by the German electronics magazine DESIGN&ELEKTRONIK in cooperation with the ELEKTRONIK magazine and the Steinbeis Transfer Center Embedded Design and Networking at the University of Cooperative Education Loerrach. It again features a mixture of 30 technical papers, 6 hands-on sessions and an exhibition. Bob Heile, chairman of the ZigBee Alliance, will present the conference keynote. “We are very happy to see this great interest for ZigBee in Europe from major market-players and will use the platform to present new features and products from the ZigBee 2007 standard. In addition, it delivers interesting and compelling discussions for future usage of the ZigBee technology.” Caspar Grote, editor-in-chief of DESIGN&ELEKTRONIK, adds: “The mixture of technical papers and hands-on sessions complement each other very well. We again are looking forward to all major companies to participate in this major event.” Prof. Dr.-Ing. Axel Sikora, head of the programme committee, highlights the technical papers: “We compiled a programme with some 30 technical papers, which were selected by an international programme committee. These papers cover all major fields that system developers are interested in: architecture, physical issues and coexistence, application development, testing and commissioning, system development and application scenarios. We are very proud to have so many first-class speakers in these two days.” There will be a table-top exhibition running in parallel with the conference. The entrance to the exhibition is free for all visitors.
